“The bad, it is a 6.3 and low light conditions require high iso. The good: 1) buying the Z 600 f4 with 1.4 TC engaged gives an f5.6 at 840mm which is only a 1/3 stop faster than the 800 f6.3, but at half the price, 2) the images are sharp, 3) autofocus is fast, and the lens is light and easy to shoot handheld. There is the compromise with low light, but for the conditions in which many will be shooting and the price and performance, this is a good buy. The service, advice, and customer support provided by the staff at Murphy’s is first rate. They make sure that we get the gear we need to get the job done.”

The lightweight and compact design was achieved by using Nikon’s Phase Fresnel element, which allows the lens to be much lighter and use fewer lens elements. This is all while maintaining the same quality you’ve come to expect from NIKKOR lenses.

The NIKKOR Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S Lens boasts the most reach of any Z-Series lens (at the time of release). Mirrorless Nikon shooters now have an incredibly high-quality lens that can reach out to 800mm, and even higher with a teleconverter.

Compatible with Nikon Teleconverters

For those that need even more reach, this lens works with Nikon’s Z Teleconverter TC-1.4x and the Z Teleconverter TC-2.0x to extend the range to 1120mm and 1600mm, respectively.
