- Ricoh Imaging is pleased to announce the launch of the RICOH GR III HDF and RICOH GR IIIx HDF cameras. Designed using the acclaimed RICOH GR III and RICOH GR IIIx as the base models, these premium compact cameras feature a newly developed Highlight Diffusion Filter (HDF).
- With the exceptional image quality, flawless point-andshoot operation, and outstanding portability that the GR series is known for, these new models allow the user to instantly engage the newly developed, built-in HDF (Highlight Diffusion Filter) with a single action. This special-effect filter diffuses highlight areas and creates a blurred effect along the image’s edges, making it possible to capture somewhat nostalgic images resembling those captured in film photography or vintage movies.
- This creative versatility expands the visual boundaries of snapshot photography, giving the user the option to shoot high resolution, high contrast images for accuracy and precision; or softer, more expressive images to create a sense of depth and emotion, depending on their subject or creative intention.
- These models also include a new Zone Select AF function, which automatically sets the focus at the most appropriate point within the image area after the user shifts the 3X3 focus area to the desired zone, as well as the ability to pre-program up to three white-balance settings as the base white balance. These functions will also be available for all RICOH GR III- and GR IIIx-series models using functionexpansion firmware, which is scheduled to be released along with the market launch of the new RICOH GR III HDF and RICOH GR IIIx HDF.
Built-in HDF (Highlight Diffusion Filter) to create softer light, more expressive imagesThe new models incorporate the newly developed HDF (Highlight Diffusion Filter) to emphasize highlights and produce mellow, softened images. Developed by taking advantage of RICOH’s advanced inkjet technology cultivated over the years, this special-effect filter is designed to diffuse highlight areas and create a blurred effect along the image’s edges, making it possible to capture somewhat nostalgic images resembling those captured in film photography or vintage movies. HDF can be instantly switched on and off with a single action, allowing the user to effortlessly alternate between two completely different visual expressions — clear, sharply focused images characteristic of the RICOH GR series, and softer light, more expressive images captured by the HDF — depending on the subject or creative intention.
