Up to 10fps1 with Silent5 \n\nor Mechanical Shutter
\n\nThe a7 III is equipped with a refined image processing system that allows it \n\nto capture full 24.2MP images at up to 10 fps1 with continuous and \n\naccurate AF/AE (autofocus and auto exposure) tracking for up to 177 Standard \n\nJPEG images, 89 compressed RAW images or 40 uncompressed RAW images. This high \n\nspeed 10 fps mode is available with either a mechanical shutter or an electronic \n\nshutter for completely silent5 shooting. The a7 III can also shoot \n\ncontinuously at up to 8 fps1 in live view mode with minimal lag in \n\nthe viewfinder or LCD screen. These high speed options ensure that fast moving \n\nsubjects can be captured with extreme accuracy and incredible image detail.\xa0
Incredible hybrid autofocus system
\n\nThe a7 III features a world class autofocus system comprised of 693 \n\nfocal-plane phase-detection AF points that cover approximately 93% of the image \n\narea, 425 contrast AF points and reliable Eye-AF. When combined, both contrast \n\nand phase detection AF points form the 4D FOCUS \u2122 hybrid AF system for wide, \n\nfast, reliable AF that locks on and stays locked on. This advanced system \n\ndelivers AF acquisition in about half the time as the a7 II in low-light \n\nconditions with tracking that is approximately 2 times more accurate as well. \n\nThe acclaimed Eye AF feature is also approximately twice as effective4, \n\nand is available when utilizing AF-C mode and with Sony\u2019s A-mount lenses9 \n\nwith an adapter.
5-step6, 5-axis in-body \n\nimage stabilization
\n\nThe 5-axis in-body SteadyShot\u2122 image stabilization system has been fine-tuned \n\nto support high-resolution shooting capacity, resulting in an image \n\nstabilization system at 5-step6 shutter speed advantage. Camera shake \n\nis effectively compensated on 5 axes: pitch and yaw that have the largest \n\noverall impact on image quality; X and Y shift that is most apparent at high \n\nmagnification, and roll that can ruin night shots and movies. Stabilization is \n\napplied to the live-view image, making it easier to frame fast-moving subjects. \n\nEffective stabilization is provided for movies as well as stills, and for \n\nA-mount lenses9 attached via a mount adapter.
Secure and versatile dual SD media slots
\n\nTwo SD media card slots are provided for still and movie storage (one slot \n\nfor SD cards or Memory Stick) with the lower card slot being UHS-II compatible \n\nfor fast write speed. Still or movie data can be simultaneously recorded to both \n\ncards for backup, or RAW4 images can be recorded to one card while \n\nJPEG images are recorded to the other. It is also possible to record stills and \n\nmovies to different cards. Relay recording automatically switches to the second \n\ncard when the first card is full. Data can be copied between cards while in the \n\ncamera, for convenient back-up. Sony SF-G series UHS-II SD cards are ideal for \n\nsituations where maximum transfer speed is required.
High Quality 4K2 HDR3 \n\nfor the Video Professionals
\n\nThe a7 III is exceptionally capable as a video camera, offering 4K2 \n\n(3840x2160 pixels) video recording across the full width of the full-frame image \n\nsensor. In video mode, the a7 III uses full pixel readout without pixel binning \n\nto collect about 2.4x\xa0 the amount of data required for 4K movies, and then \n\noversamples it to produce high quality 4K footage with exceptional detail and \n\ndepth. Both S-Log2 and S-Log3 are available for increased color grading \n\nflexibility, while HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma)3 is included to support an \n\nInstant HDR (High Dynamic Range) workflow, allowing HDR (HLG) compatible TV\u2019s to \n\nplayback beautiful, true-to-life 4K HDR imagery. The a7 III can also record Full \n\nHD at 120 fps2 at up to 100 Mbps, allowing footage to be reviewed and \n\neventually edited into 4x or 5x slow motion11 video files in Full HD \n\nresolution.

\n\n4K2 HDR3 (High Dynamic Range) astonishes viewers with \n\nvisual depth and impact that are less like conventional movies and television \u2013 \n\nand more like real life. With the ability to reproduce images from deep shadows \n\nto piercing highlights, 4K High Dynamic Range (HDR) is astonishing. With Instant \n\nHDR, the a7 III empowers you to capture High Dynamic Range without complex post \n\nproduction. Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) recording captures HDR, yet plays back \n\nbeautifully on both HDR and conventional televisions. For added versatility, the \n\ncamera also provides S-Log3 encoding.
\n\nLong-lasting Z battery
\n\nThe high-capacity NP-FZ100 Rechargeable Battery has approximately 2.2x the \n\ncapacity of the NP-FW50 W-series battery giving the a7 III the longest7 \n\nrated battery life of any Mirrorless camera at 710 shots8 per charge \n\n. The optional VG-C3EM vertical grip (sold separately) houses two batteries and \n\nwhen you need serious stamina for long sessions there\u2019s the NPA-MQZ1K Multi \n\nBattery Adaptor Kit (sold separately) that can hold up to four batteries. \n\n16-bit processing and 14-bit RAW4 \n\noutput for natural gradations
Both compressed and uncompressed 14-bit RAW4 format are supported. \n\nThe 14-bit digital signal from the image sensor\u2019s analog to digital (AD) \n\nconverter is processed in 16-bit form by the front-end LSI and BIONZ X\u2122 image \n\nprocessor before being output as 14-bit RAW4 data. The result is \n\nsmoother, more natural gradations that contribute to higher overall image \n\nquality. The enhanced BIONZ X image processing LSI makes 14-bit RAW4 \n\noutput available even when shooting in silent5 or continuous mode.
High contrast 2.36-million dot OLED EVF
\n\nThe a7 III boasts a high-luminance 2.359 million dots EVF (XGA OLED) \n\nTru-Finder\u2122 which reproduces the finest details, and incorporates legendary \n\nZEISS T* coating to greatly reduce reflections, while the double-sided \n\naspherical element achieves 0.78x magnification with outstanding corner-to- \n\ncorner clarity. EVF startup time \xa0when the camera is switched on has been \n\ndecreased by approximately 40% compared to the ?7 II.
922K-dot (approx.) 3\u201d (3.0 type) tilting LCD monitor
This large tiltable 3\u201d (3.0 type) LCD monitor features approximately 922K \n\ndots* for high resolution and detailed viewing. The monitor not only supports \n\ntouch operation, but tilts upwards by a maximum of 107\xb0 and downwards by a \n\nmaximum of 41\xb0 for flexible hold and framing.
Touch AF function
\n\nFocusing doesn\u2019t get any more intuitive than this. With Touch Focus you can \n\nsimply touch the LCD screen to specify the desired focus point. Even subjects \n\nnear the edges of the frame can be instantly selected without having to reframe \n\nor manually shift the focus point. Double-tap any point on the monitor for a \n\nmagnified view of that area when focusing manually. Touch AF allows smooth focus \n\npoint changes when shooting movies too.
\n\nEnhanced Eye-AF
\n\nEye AF automatically detects and focuses on the subject\u2019s eye. It has been \n\nnotably improved in the a7 III, even when shooting a moving subject in \n\ncontinuous AF mode. Face detection has also been updated for higher reliability \n\nwhen the subject is looking away from the camera, when the face is in partial \n\ndarkness, and other challenging situations.
Robust magnesium alloy body\xa0 w/ dust and moisture resistant design12
\n\nThe a7 III body construction features a lightweight, high-rigidity magnesium \n\nalloy for the internal frame as well as the top, front, and rear covers. The \n\ngrip area has also been reinforced with an integrated magnesium alloy front \n\ncover. The number of screws securing the lens mount has been increased to six in \n\norder to maximize rigidity and durability even when using heavy telephoto \n\nlenses. Sealing is provided throughout the body to minimize dust and moisture \n\ningress12, allowing it to function reliably in challenging \n\nenvironments9. All major buttons and dials are provided with seals, \n\nwhile media and jack covers and enclosure edges feature tongue-and-groove joints \n\nfor double protection. Maximum dust and moisture resistance12 is \n\nmaintained at lens, vertical grip, and flash unit joints too, providing \n\nexcellent system reliability.
My Menu, customizable interface and buttons, plus back focus button
\n\nMake it your own with easy button customization.\xa0 A new My Menu feature \n\nallows up to 30 menu items to be registered for instant recall when needed. The \n\nregistered items can be arranged in any convenient order, and unused items can \n\nbe erased as required. The primary menus have also been reorganized for smoother \n\nsearch and operation. In addition, You can assign any of 81 functions to any of \n\n11 customizable buttons as you like. This makes operation more intuitive, quick \n\nand easy, and is extra-convenient for accessing such functions as starting and \n\nstopping of movie recording and switching between viewfinder and monitor.
\n\nAF-ON\xa0 button (back focus button)
\n\nThe a7 III has several new and updated focus functions that support faster, \n\neasier focusing in a variety of situations including the AF-ON\xa0 button \n\n(back focus button) which activates autofocus when pressed while shooting stills \n\nor movies.
AF Multi-selector
\n\nThe camera features a multi-selector joystick on the back of the camera, \n\nallowing shooters to easily shift focus within the frame by pressing the \n\nmulti-selector in any direction up, down, left or right when shooting in Zone, \n\nFlexible Spot or Expanded Flexible Spot focus area modes.
\n\nAnti-dust system and coating
To keep your photos blemish-free, a special anti-static coating on the \n\nsurface of the optical filter suppresses the attachment of both dry and moist \n\ndust particles when changing lenses. An anti-dust mechanism also vibrates at \n\nhigh speed when you select Cleaning Mode, to remove any particles adhering to \n\nthe filter.
Meticulously crafted controls
\n\nControls are refined for intuitive operation and immediate adjustment even \n\nwhile looking through the viewfinder. The ?7 III features front and rear dials \n\nfor easier, more efficient handling and turning. A mode dial locking mechanism \n\nprevents inadvertent changes of shooting mode at all times and a stacked \n\nindependently operable dials allow fast selection of drive and focus modes. \n\nQuickly select the single or continuous drive mode, or the single AF or \n\ncontinuous AF focus mode, for example, without having to scroll through menus. \n\nBoth dials are lockable, preventing unwanted mode changes during use
\n\nAnti-flicker10 function
\n\nIf there is fluorescent or artificial lighting present in a shooting \n\nenvironment, users can activate the Anti-flicker10 function to allow \n\nthe a7 III to automatically detect frequency of the lighting and time the \n\nshutter to minimize its effect on images being captured. This minimizes any \n\nexposure or color anomalies that can sometimes occur at the top and bottom of \n\nimages shot at high shutter speeds.\xa0
Imaging Edge included
