“This is an excellent camera, that I have owned since July 2015. It has always performed perfectly and reliably. As to the prior reviewer's comments about the shutter locking up and flare issues, there was an official Nikon recall for warranty repair previously held. Although I did not experience either of those problems, I was informed that my camera was within the serial numbers potentially affected and I brought the camera to Nikon's Melville, NY headquarters, where it was promptly serviced (new shutter installed) for free just before the warranty expired. No problems since then. I also understand that the frequency and severity of the purported problems were exaggerated in any event, but that Nikon chose to have the recall and fix any potential problems to avoid damage to its reputation and keep its customers satisfied.”
